BODYMATTERS - The Bowen Technique (Bowen Therapy)
BODYMATTERS - The Bowen Technique (Bowen Therapy)

Specialising in The Bowen Technique

THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE is a remedial, hands-on treatment that is applied using very gentle pressure & unique sets of rolling-type moves which can be performed on skin or through light, loose clothing.

After each set of moves, a few minutes pause is needed where the practitioner leaves the treatment room to allow the body to process them.  The moves activate and trigger a neural response, which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue, prompting the body to reset, repair and re-balance itself.

Often it feels like very little has happened - yet in fact it addresses the whole body making it suitable for almost anyone. The technique is gentle and stimulates the body’s own natural healing process. No oils, needles or drugs are used, making it a safe treatment for babies, the elderly and very sick as well as sports people, those with chronic pain and/or acute injuries.

THREE to FOUR Treatments are usually recommended (with 7 day intervals in between) to introduce the body to Bowen and establish a healing pattern within the body.  A session can last 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on the work required and every session will begin with a quick assessment.

AFTER a treatment, you will feel relaxed and probably have more energy. Once the session is over it is important to drink more water than usual and walk regularly.

Depending on your condition, you may experience immediate relief, or a gradual improvement over time. As an added bonus, one of the side effects of Bowen is that other, completely unrelated conditions will often correct themselves.
